Brenda Chavez attended Stanford University, where she majored in Chicana/o Studies and Sociology and graduated with departmental honors. She received her Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School and began her legal career in the Corporate and Securities Department of Greenberg Traurig, LLP in New York. While there, she also worked on a variety of entertainment matters, most notably representing the buyer in the acquisition of the Elvis Presley estate.

Ms. Chavez is a transactional attorney who focuses on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements and providing practical legal counsel to individuals, creative professionals, and businesses. Her entertainment practice encompasses filmmakers, producers, writers, directors, editors, musicians, bands, influencers, and new media content creators. She also represents businesses at various stages of development, including start-ups, restaurants, cafés, theaters, and yoga studios. Her work spans a range of matters, including business formation, corporate and commercial agreements, employment matters, intellectual property, trademark and service mark protection, copyright, branding, and entertainment transactions. Whether advising an established company or an independent creative professional, Ms. Chavez works to protect her clients’ interests while helping them navigate the legal and business considerations involved in bringing their projects and ventures to life.

Ms. Chavez is fluent in Spanish and is licensed to practice law in California and New York. She is a member of Cap and Gown: Women Leaders at Stanford, an organization recognizing academic excellence, community involvement, and leadership. She is also a member of the Latina Lawyers Bar Association, LGBTQ+ Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, the International Documentary Association (IDA), and Professional Entertainment Female Attorneys (PEFA).
